In February 2002 we contacted Christchurch School for the first time to learn to know them. We knew them already by internet working in NetdaysEurope and in using one of our interactove writing stories in English. Apart of being welcomed very heartily there was a wonderful article in the "Oldham Chronicle". Unfortunately we lost ist, but we tried to restore it: Here it is!

OLDHAM CHRONICLE

Chasing the dragon
by DAWN BUNNELL

CHADDERTON children are teaming up with other pupils from all over the world to tell a story via the Internet.

Christ Church Primary School got on-line with their foreign friends after the Pestalozzischule, a German primary school in Gladbeck, started an ambitious web-site tale with the aim of involving youngsters from as far and wide as possible.
Based on a traditional German folk story, "Peter and the Dragon", each school has taken a chapter and adapted it according to which country they are from.
The Internet story, thought up by Pestalozzischule head teacher Hans-Juergen Fuhrmann, has captured the imagination of 10 schools, stretching from Europe to Florida and Australia.
And a colourful painting of the fire-breathing dragon by Christ Church Year 6 pupil Joe Stoloff (11) has been chosen out of all the schools involved to be the front cover for the on-screen story book.
This week Herr Fuhrmann and his daughter, Nora, visited Christ Church to explain to the children how their pupils have been using technology to write their part of the folk tale.
Deputy head teacher Richard Clegg said: "It is a bit like a chain letter. Herr Fuhrmann has produced a big web-site in Germany, and his school has been used for training by other schools in the country."
He added: "We're going to be doing this again next year, this time involving some of the younger children in the art work.
