The annual reading cafe
finds takes place toward end of
the school year, mostly in april or mai, to include school years
projects of the different classes. Actual place of the school
reading cafe is the public library situated in the city of Gladbeck.
This place is able to
make clear the relationship between writing and reading to the
children and
to the parents.
So called "Small reading cafes" take place in different locations at school itself:
In the billiardroom
of an an association in the cellar of our school or simply
in the classroom, perhaps even in a reading tent, which is created
for example, if one hangs a parachute up in a class like the tent
of bedouins.
For the appearance of
a reading cafe are hardly set any boundaries
and each school might find their own creative solutions: e.g.:
in a literature tavern or a small cinema with stage.

The stories should be mostly independently noted by the pupils and selected by their schoolmates. That are stories that have been created
- as non-standard texts in free work/week plan (individual texts for class newspapers, stories booklets .. )
- as write plays ,
- as books transferred from real literature examples
The teacher examines
the texts in such a way that they are free of writing
errors because of the publication. The revision should occur sensitively
and show the personal style of the author.

Because of the model
effect parents and teachers likewise read out their stories. Interesting
statement also from my work in our write-and-
printing location : Adults do have problems to write down their
own texts and to read them out in public. Children rarely!
1998 : 76 readers, 8 musicians und ca. 60 parents enjoyed the different stories of these young authors!
1999: 82 readers, 14 musicians
und ca 80 parents, all the teachers, represents of town hall and
politics, but not the inspector! The same day we publishes our
new School-Story-Book called Lollipop!
Next READINGCAFE in April 2000 again in our TOWN-LIBRARY!
