Bonjour, from Marksville Middle School in central Louisiana, USA

We are part of a school with over 600 students in grades 6-8. There are eight 6th grades in our school and we will share our participation in this project with these other 6th graders as well as the entire student body through the on-line computers we have in every classroom for the first time this school year. Our part of the state of Louisiana is known for many cultures...African, American, Tunica-Biloxi Native Americans, and Cajuns. Recently new residents have come into our area from Asian countries and those of Latin
America too. We have now become an even bigger "jambalaya" of people, rich in culture.

We love to play the sports of football, basketball, and baseball. These sports are very popular events here throughout the year.Here in our beautiful bayou country...we have bayous, swamps, and the banks of the Red, Atchafalaya, and Mississippi Rivers nearby. Deer, squirrels, and all kinds of fresh water fish are abundant here and many people come to our area to hunt and fish. Our state is known as a Sportsman's Paradise.

 At MMS all of our teachers and staff care alot about us. From our many bus
drivers, cafeteria workers, custodians, instructional aides, school nurse,
counselor, teachers and administrators we always know that our best
interests are their daily concerns. We try to do our best...so that we can
learn all we can to become fine men and women someday.

We look forward to making new friends through the Internet and this
Continuation Book is a wonderful beginning. As we say in Cajun French...
